That's amazing! I have an auto-immune illness called Myasthenia Gravis, and I've found yoga so immensely theraputic that I often wished it was more widely available to those with chronic health problems. Hopefully more studios will be so generous and thoughtful!

Yes! I hear you, I work for doctors and handle disability insurance claims. What a scam! I have patients call yelling about their treatment and the doctors and it's ONLY the insurance companies pulling the strings. The doctors and personnel bend over backwards to send & re-send all documentation the insurance companies ask for to get approvals. They just flat deny it. We were getting verbal approvals for mri's for our patients. Then once it was done and we submitted the claim, they wouldn't APPROVE payment until the doctor wrote a letter establishing why an mri was necessary! This is after we submitted all his clinical notes, reports, etc.
What's wrong with health care in America? Health insurance.

I'm sorry to hear you're having to go through all that! *hugs!*

A nerve conduction study is actually separate from an EMG. An EMG is where a doctor sticks needles into various muscles and then has you flex and relax them while looking at a screen to determine if you have any muscle damage. Did your doctor do that at all?

The reason why I ask is, I went through the same thing earlier this year. My nerve conduction study was normal. The doctor went ahead and did the EMG, just in case. I'm glad he did because he discovered I had muscle damage in every muscle that was tested. That test is primarily what led to me getting a diagnosis of CIDP.

As uncomfortable as the test is, you might want to discuss with your doctor getting it done. It has less side effects than a spinal tap does and could potentially tell him quite a bit.

Another thing you might want to discuss with him is what tests he is going to have done on your spinal fluid, should you get the spinal tap. When I had mine, my doctor did an MS profile to rule out Multiple Sclerosis and a protein count to see if I had elevated protein levels. An elevation is protein levels could indicate CIDP or any or its variants.

Whether or not that's appropriate for you is something you'll have to discuss with your doctor personally. I just know that if I have to have a test done, I'd rather get as much done as possible at once so I don't have to repeat any of the tests later.

I really do think that Doctor's are trained to give nothing but bad news. I can't believe how many tests you have to go through before they finally reach some kind of idea of what it might be. Each test is also extremely expensive. Ugh!

How comes it is it only took one Doctor, one blood test and one stethoscope to make a diagnosis 20 years ago, yet now with all this new medical equipments and studies, it takes longer and costs a whole lot more to find out what the problem is.

I hope they find out soon for you, so you can begin to get well and be healed. :)
